Beer List

IPA:

A complex use of hop and malt make this our most interesting and celebrated beer. Hops dominate here with high hop-bitterness, but is balanced nicely against a middle malt presence. The defining character of this beer comes from the process of adding hops to finished beer (dry-hopping) instead of in the boil, where hops are usually added. This gives the beer a flowery aroma….Hop Heaven 6.7%ABV

WHEAT:

A California version of the style, our wheat is a light ale with a generous portion of wheat malt in the recipe. Where most wheats are cloudy and therefore heavier, we’ve tried to make ours lighter while still maintaining the spicy, fruity character of the wheat. Refreshing…with or without lemon. 3.5%ABV

HONEY BLONDE:

One of our most popular beers, we use California produced buckwheat honey in this light-bodied refreshing ale. Great as an introduction to craft-brewed beers, our honey blonde is very approachable with it’s low-bitterness and sweet kiss of honey. So sweet and tasty. 4.4%ABV

AMBER:

A classic American style, this is probably our most faithful rendition. Like the IPA, this beer is another balancing act, with malt character allowed to dominate this time. This is achieved using a single hop variety balanced against a complex use of caramel and specialty malts. The result is a refined, toasty character with medium body and rich in color. A gentlemen’s and gentlewomen’s drink. 4.8%ABV

BLUEBERRY:

A true original and much sought after, our most requested beer. A simple light ale recipe, similar to the honey blonde, is loaded up with 100% organic blueberry extract instead of honey. Light, fruity, and refreshing. Come back in the summer and try our fresh Blueberry Harvest Wheat version. 4.2%ABV

OATMEAL STOUT:

Our darkest offering is a nutritious celebration of beer. Just like dark veggies and bright fruit, this fortified brew is packed with health benefits. But that’s not the only reason to try this one. The oats add a rich, creamy texture while roasted malts give the beer it’s color and toasty qualities. Remedy in a glass. 5.1%ABV

PALE:

No beer menu would be complete without a pale ale. This pale is brewed in a style popularized in California which is best described as extra pale. Expect a light bodied crispness from low malt sweetness and floral hoppiness from the hops added in the fermenter….A California tradition. 4.7%ABV

PORTER:

This robust porter boasts five different specialty malts and both English and American hops. This complex use of ingredients gives this beer a full body and darkness where flavors of bittersweet chocolate and expresso hide to reveal themselves with every sip….As good as it sounds. 5.8%ABV

LAGER:

Unlike mass-produced lagers, this beer has an all malt recipe. This gives it a fuller body yet is light enough to maintain a fresh drinkability. The maltiness and Bavarian yeast qualities are balanced against the delicate use of hops….Golden lager from the Golden State. 4.4%ABV

DOUBLE BLONDE:

The big cousin of Honey Blonde, without the honey, this beer is created in the triple style. A huge malt profile gives this beer it’s extra kick of alcohol. Hops take the back seat and let the dry malt middle take over….Deceptively light, decidedly strong. 7.1%ABV

REGGAE RED:

Although similar in color and style to the Amber Ale, several elements set this special Red Ale apart. First is the bigger hop presence achieved by adding hops to finished beer, called “dry-hopping.” Another is the use of Wheat Malt to add body and texture. But what really sets Reggae Red apart is the addition of roasted hemp seedsimparting a nutty, roasted character. 5% ABV

HEMP:

An American Brown ale with a twist, but not that much of a twist. Sterlized hemp seeds, not potent ones, are used to give a nutty character and a full body. Expect only the effects of hoppy goodness and rich malt character….An uplifting beer. 4.8%ABV

IMPERIAL WINTER BROWN:

A big, malty, brown ale packed with 5 different specialty malts (brown, victory, crystal, carapils, maris otter). These malts give this beer a full body and smooth finish with some malty spiciness. Low in hop character and huge on malt character. Please be careful as this beer is our highest alcohol content available at 9%ABV.

CALIWEIZEN:

This beer is a hybrid of our CaliWheat and a traditional German-style hefeweizen. We blended our house ale yeast and hefeweizen yeast to produce a toned down version of a hefeweizen. The banana and clove flavors from the hefeweizen work nicely with the lighter fermentation of the house ale yeast. And like our CaliWheat we add a small portion of hops to the finished beer. A true SLOBrew original. 4.5% ABV.

NITRO-IPA:

Same beer, different gas. The nitrogen changes the body and the mouth-feel experience. The flavors are the same as the carbinateted version but with the carbonic bite out of the way it allows you to experience these flavors in a different way. 6.8%ABV

BELGIUM ABBY:

An abby we are not, but we do have an ally, and we did get a chance to use yeast from Duval, so here it is.
